Today I am very much saddened to have lost a former boss and a good friend, Ir. Tan Hoe Tim, to leukemia. The greatest impression he made on me was his way of solving problems. Whenever we were confronted with a problem or discussing an issue, he always used to say, "Let's look at the principles of it", and we normally got our work issues resolved in a manner acceptable to everyone.He had demonstrated to me that principles can give us useful guidance in a wide range of situations and that living by principles will encourage moral and fair choices, judgments and actions.
