Last night while having a barbecue party by the pool with my neighbourhhod friends, it dawned upon me that it is already 9 years since I moved into this neighbourhood, not by intention but by chance. After having to give up the house where I stayed for 19 years, I chanced upon an advert of this guarded community. I had never planned to stay so far away from my work place, but fate brought me and my children here since April 1999. In the past 9 years I watched the neighbourhood children growing from cute unfants to school goers, from curious toddlers to boisterous kids, from young children to graceful young people and my own 3 now adults in the working world. As for myself, the new environemnt was like therapy, I regained my lost trust, my self-worth, I slowly moved on, got over my dear Mother's passing, regained my sense of humour and my optimism amidst a new circle of friends, some of whom worth more than their weight in gold.
The best of friends,
Can change a frown,
Into a smile,
when you feel down.
The best of friends,
Will understand,
Your little trials,
And lend a hand.
The best of friends,
Will always share,
Your secret dreams,
Because they care.
The best of friends,
Worth more than gold,
Give all the love,
A heart can hold.
